Chef Emil Ess
Executive Chef

Chef Emil’s culinary journey began in 2009 working ad hoc cooking for inmates, discovering his love for the vibrant and dynamic world of the kitchen. He honed his skills at Sunrice, graduating in 2013, and delved into the art of butchery, earning the prestigious MLA scholarship for butchery. His commitment took him all the way to Australia, where he gained invaluable insights into meat production during a tour of a slaughterhouse.

About Brasserie Astoria Singapore

In 2021, the Frantzén Group opened Brasserie Astoria in the former Astoria cinema in Stockholm, a place with a history of international glory as the it spot for urban Stockholmers to socialize back in the 20s and 30s.

The Astoria of today wants to recreate the international and sophisticated experience with a strong focus on warm, knowledgeable service. Now it’s time to take Brasserie Astoria to Singapore and the iconic Victoria Theatre & Concert Hall, with its roots from the 1840s.
